Nicotine, which is an alkaloid gotten from the tobacco plant, is an intense compound that effectsly affects the human body, particularly when directed quickly or at high portions. Pre-birth presentation to nicotine is related with unfavorable conceptive results, including modified neural structure and working, intellectual shortages, and conduct issues in the posterity (9). In any event 20% - 30% of pregnant ladies are assessed to smoke cigarettes, albeit smoking is related with low birth weight, rashness and baby mortality. In the United States, smoking records yearly for assessed fetal passings running from 19,000 to 141,000, for 1,900 to 4,800 passings during or following parturition, and for 1,200 to 2,200 demise from Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (7). Maternal smoking has been embroiled in long haul shortages in baby mental turn of events and unfriendly conduct issues in youngsters, for example, consideration issue. Nicotine crosses the human placenta and effectsly affects the creating baby. Pre-clinical examinations propose that maternal smoking during pregnancy produces changes on the posterity's neural working, remembering decreases for take-up of serotonin, adjustments in dopaminergic frameworks, modifications in fringe and focal noradrenergic neurons, and changes in DNA and RNA union in the cerebrum (9). Youngsters prenatally presented to nicotine reliably score lower in the two subcategories of expressive language and theoretical appreciation. Proof from investigations of human neonates recommends that maternal smoking during pregnancy is related with expanded paces of neurobehavioral troubles. A few examinations have connected maternal smoking during pregnancy with youth absentmindedness, impulsivity, and engine hyperactivity in posterity. So also, maternal smoking during pregnancy has been related with parent-instructor evaluations of lead issues in youngsters and a criminal record in youthful grown-ups. An examination by Yousef Tzabi recommended that cigarette smoking during pregnancy might be one of the reasons for hyperactivity and learning shortages in kids. In a research facility concentrate with Sprague-Dawley mice, it was demonstrated that hyperactive male puppies that were presented to nicotine prenatally had altogether higher nicotinic receptor fixations in the... ...ironment is generally hypoxic, and relating cardiovascular practical shortfalls would along these lines add to the high occurrence of fetal mortality. Similarly as debilitated heart work during hypoxia in neonatal rodents can represent the expansion in mortality with delayed hypoxia, tantamount impacts in man would give an instrument to cardiovascular breakdown and subsequent cerebrum harm or demise during conveyance. The results of smoking during pregnancy are exceptionally sensational. In the event that clinicians can persuade their patients to quit smoking from the get-go in their pregnancy, a significant effect might be made on the occurrence of low birth weight newborn children, perinatal grimness and mortality, just as intellectual shortfalls and social issues in the posterity. A solid explanation must be made on the issue of tobacco presentation during pregnancy. This could be cultivated by advising ladies that their babies may not exclusively be littler than their nonsmoking partners, however their newborn children may likewise have transient or perpetual changes in their lung and cerebrum ultrastructure. A patient who is educated regarding these conceivable long haul impacts of nicotine on her kid might be increasingly effective with her smoking discontinuance. People really feel hard to describe the pain with words despite the fact they pain takes a part in each persons life. Needless to say that human ability to feel pain is a complex and very important mechanism of survival. Different people can feel the same pain different because the pain perception depends on their emotional stability, psychological condition, mood, and the experience with pain from their past. In 1965, the psychologist from Canada, Ronald Melzack and the physiologist from Great Britain, Patrick Wall created their theory that made a big influence on understanding of pain. Their theory made a real upheaval in pain exploring and explained all psychological and physical aspects of pain perception. According to this studying, pain signals go through a kind of âneurological gatesâ that situated at the spinal cord stage, and only after this the gates should define if these signals have to reach the human brain or not. So, when the gate opens, signals are provided to the brain, and we feel pain. If the gate closes, the signals are stopped and cannot go further, so we can feel pain less or it may disappear. With this theory, we can find a simple explanation why people can stop feeling pain after rubbing an injured area that causes pain. Pain management from the view of the theory This theory also suggested that peoples thoughts and emotions can has a great impact on the pain signal transmission, so the same level of pain could feel different by people with various moods and emotions. Some people who have chronic pain, are able to forget about their pain, especially when they are concentrated on some activities that fully involves them. In opposite, when these people are stressed, anxious or depressed, they may experience intense pain they feel hard to manage with. This is just because our brain sends signals that can decrease, enhance or stop the pain signals, depending on the emotional condition of the certain person. This can explain those phenomenons when a hypnotized person can be operated without anesthesia, so it means the hypnoses helps to close the gate and pain impulses cannot be transferred into the brain, and the person doesnt feel pain at all. If to tell about pain perception of people in various moods, its possible to say that those patients who feel nervous and fearful, will experience the highest level of pain compared to calm people that keep their emotions under control. For example, it explains why some small children afraid even slight manipulations like a simple injection that doesnt cause any pain to the calm person. Fear and tension cause more pain just because people in this condition are ready to expect a huge level of pain, thats why even small pain seems to them unbearable and nasty. Needless to say that any medical treatment is connected to the psycho social condition of the patient. Positive expectations of the treatment obviously have a healing effect that makes people feel better. The potential of expectations has been called as the âplacebo effectâ that describes a positive effects of the treatment that cannot be assigned to its physical action. For example, a patient that suffers with pain, may say he or she feels better after a placebo injection. It means the treatment goes only on the psychological level because a real painkiller wasnt used, but the patient thinks he got some medicine that will exactly remove the pain. So, if patients will be able to see their pain in terms of significance, and the doctors are successful in treating, it means that people would feel more calm and relaxed, so they wont suffer from pain so much and their psychological and physical condition will be much better. Its quite important for both patients and doctors to understand the connection between the level of pain and psycho physical condition of the person. They are often used at meetings, workshops, classrooms, or other group functions to introduce people who dont know each other, spark conversations among people who dont typically converse or help people learnà how to work together. Icebreakers are usually formatted as a game or exercise so that everyone can relax and fun. Some icebreakers also have a competitive element.à Why Icebreakers Help With Team Building Icebreakers games and exercises can help with team building when they require everyone in the group to work together to accomplish a specific task or goal. For example, the group may have to work together to conceptualize and implement a strategy to achieve the task. This sort of teamwork can improve communication among group members and may even help to energize and motivate a team.à Every Team Needs a Leader Icebreakers can also break down barriers among participants who are at different places in the chain of command in an organization - such as a supervisor and the people they supervise. People who normally dont take the lead on a team may have an opportunity to do so during an icebreaker game. This is empowering for many people and may help to identify people in the group with leadership capability and potential.à Teamwork Icebreaker Games Theà icebreaker games shown below can be used for both large and small groups. If you have a relatively large group, you may want to consider splitting the attendants into several smaller groups. Although each game is different, they all have a common goal: get the group to complete a task within a specific amount of time. If you have more than one group, you can add a competition element to the game by seeing which team can complete an assigned task the fastest. Sample tasks to try: Build a house of cards using 10 cards.Form a line according to height (tallest to shortest or shortest to tallest).Think up and write down 20 words that start with the letter T.Create and write down 5 questions that have the same answer. After the icebreaker game ends, ask the teams to describe the strategy they used to work together and accomplish the task. Discuss some of the strengths and weaknesses of the strategy. This will help all of the group members learn from each other. As you play more and more icebreaker games, you will notice that the group tries to hone their strategies to improve from one game to the next.à More Icebreaker Games for Teams A couple ofà other icebreaker games that you might want to try to encourage teamwork and team building include: Team Building Puzzler - This game encourages multiple teams to compete against each other in a puzzle building competition. The Ball Game - This classic group icebreaker is a great way to help people in small or large groups build trust and get to know each other better. In his 48-page report, NASA inspector general Paul K. Martin stated that NASA ââ¬Å"faces significant challengesâ⬠in protecting Mars mission crews, and that it is being too ââ¬Å"optimisticâ⬠in projecting its timetable for responding to the risks. As a result, Mars-bound humans ââ¬Å"may have to accept a higher level of risk than those who fly International Space Station missions.â⬠Now planned for the 2030s, NASAââ¬â¢s first human mission to Mars will be fraught with new dangers such as deep space radiation, increased cancer risk, impaired vision, negative effects of extended space travel on human behavior and performance. Reality check: By the 2030s, there will still be no warp drives, transporters, replicators or other ââ¬Å"Star Trekâ⬠wonders to help our Mars-bound astronauts get there faster and stay alive longer. In fact, as IG Martin notes, they might even run out of food. Running out of Food? Yes, even basic nutrition could become a big problem, according to the report, because: A mission to Mars and back will take at least 3 years, but the current maximum shelf life for NASAââ¬â¢s prepackaged foods is only 1.5 years. The vehicle carrying astronauts to Mars and back will probably be far smaller than the International Space Station, providing significantly less room for food storage.Periodic resupply missions carrying more food, like those currently serving the Space Station, will not be possible. Finally, NASA scientists do not know how deep space radiation will affect the quality, shelf life and nutritional value of food. While NASA is investigating resupply alternatives, including actually growing food in the Mars spacecraft, the IG stated, ââ¬Å"Despite 35 years of experience with space flight and research in this area, NASA food scientists continue to face challenges from crew member weight loss, dehydration, and reduced appetite that can result in nutrient deficiencies both during and post mission.â⬠Dangers and Costs of Dealing with Them Not Known While NASA has developed ways to deal with most of the risks of travel in low Earth orbit, many of the added risks associated with long duration space travel ââ¬â like trips to Mars and back -- are not yet fully understood. In addition, taxpayers, IG Martin also found that NASA cannot accurately project the true costs of creating ways to deal with the Mars mission risks. In fact, the ability of NASA to pay for a manned Mars mission, safe or not, is questionable given its shrinking share of the annual federal budget, which Congress has shown no signs of enlarging any time soon. ââ¬Å"NASA has taken positive steps to address the human health and performance risks inherent in space travel,â⬠Martin wrote, adding, ââ¬Å"Long duration missions will likely expose crews to health and human performance risks for which NASA has limited effective countermeasures. â⬠¦ Accordingly, the astronauts chosen to make at least the initial forays into deep space may have to accept a higher level of risk than those who fly International Space Station missions.â⬠A ââ¬ËCulture of Silosââ¬â¢ Dragging NASA Down In his report, IG Martin contends that NASAââ¬â¢s scientists and engineers are held back by their tendency to work in what he called a ââ¬Å"culture of silos,â⬠in which technical teams work and collaborate only with specialists within their own areas of expertise. In other words, not enough research data is being shared. ââ¬Å"We found multiple examples of work taking place on health and human performance risks that suffered from such communication silos,â⬠Martin wrote. According to the report, NASAââ¬â¢s has so far failed to give its astronaut life safety community a designated representative to work with the engineering, safety, and mission planning communities to ensure that issues of astronaut health and physical performance are fully and properly considered. IG Found Some Progress, Butâ⬠¦ IG Martin did find that NASA had been taking some steps to lessen the risks of the Mars mission including a new Mars rover, set for launch in 2020, that will be able to extract and collect oxygen from thin Martian atmosphere and ways to grow food in the almost sterile Martian soil. African-American scientist and inventor Emmett Chappelle was integral in the first missions to Mars, developing a method of removing soil from the planet during the Viking program. However, Martin concluded that NASA must speed up its work on astronaut safety in order to meet its established manned Mars mission goals and timetables. (Milton, 12. 469-477) The passage above is about Adam responding to Gabrielââ¬â¢s message about the Gospel. We will write a custom essay sample on Paradise Lost and Adamââ¬â¢s response to the Gospel or any similar topic only for you Order Now Gabriel has Just told Adam the story of how through Adam and Eveââ¬â¢s mistake Jesus overcame sin. ââ¬Å"But to the Cross he nailes thy Enemies,â⬠and ââ¬Å"Shall bruise the head of Satan, crush his strengthâ⬠(Milton, 12. 430,415). The news of Jesusââ¬â¢ gracious victory over sin and death overwhelms Adam. He responds in lines 471-472 by saying that the post-fallen world (with Jesus) is greater than the pre-fallen world in the Garden of Eden. Adam is basically saying he does not feel as bad for the fall ecause of the good that will ââ¬Å"springâ⬠(line 476) forth from it. I think this passage is very neat and speaks a whole lot to the work of Jesus in my life. So much evil has come from the fall, and sometimes I ask myself, ââ¬Å"if God is all- knowing, then why did he make humans when he knew that we would fall? â⬠The whole poem has helped me understand that ââ¬Å"whyââ¬â¢. Specifically the passage above ultimately, more good has come through Jesus, than bad has from sin and death! This takes some weight off my shoulders whenever I sin and fall short. I now see that Godââ¬â¢s grace and love is more powerful than anything bad that I can do. Jesus had slain sin and death, and I am victorious through Him. Even seeing Adamââ¬â¢s cheerfulness after the good news makes me see the fall of humankind differently; it reminds me to look at Jesus rather than at my sin. In my discussion with my friend about this passage and the poem as a whole, I learned the power of literature. This poem speaks not only about Christianity, but also about the history of beliefs. Answer: Objective of the action plan and the proposed action Gender discrimination at workplace is still rampant in Australia as men earn more than women (24%) on an average. In the senior management roles there are very few women working part time. Only 15% of women are chief executives. There are 30 top companies in Australia without women on their boards (ABC News 2017). This is why one of our objectives is to reduce the level of gender discrimination by 50% by next year. It will help improve the status of the women and promote gender equality Thus, in order to reduce the gender discrimination the actions are Monitor the legal protections in regards to gender inequality and Improving the women status- flexible work hours for women and increase in recruitment in senior role and equal payment Anticipated outcomes of the proposed actions By monitoring the workplace adherence to the Gender Equality Act, it is possible to take stringent actions against people violating the policies and norms. Regular audit will help in this process. Taking strict actions such as law suit against the company or the suspending from workplace will help people restrain from gender discrimination. Women status can be increased by workforce participation in different roles. Offering the physical security benefits to women will help her in participating in senior roles. Equal financial returns as men will motivate women. In the long run it may help in gender parity, higher financial returns for the companies, innovation and increase in annual GDP (Charlesworth and Macdonald 2014). Key risk associated with the proposed actions The key risks associated with proposed action are that the discrimination at the workplace may go unnoticed. Underreporting may be the other major barrier to monitor the changes in the gender discrimination. Further lack of support from the family members may be the barrier to womens participation on the board in corporate sector. Although the corporate sector offers the senior management roles, lack of sharing of responsibilities by men at house prevents women empowerment (Chizema et al. 2015). These barriers will hamper the process of the attaining gender equity in workplace. Evaluation The best way to assess if the action plan is working is to conduct open and close ended survey. The target population will be the managers of the companies to identify the barriers faced by them in recruiting women in senior roles. Women will be surveyed to identify the barriers in working part time in senior management roles. Regular audits will help monitor the change. It will also help analyse the attitude and behaviour of people towards legislations and polices against gender discrimination. The audit results will also help in identifying any kind of implicit or conscious bias in workplace that is causing gender discrimination. Proposed action can be modified and designed considering the barriers and factors preventing 100% adherence of the workplace managers to the laws and regulations (Van den Brink and Stobbe 2014). With China moving closer than ever to democracy these concerns are especially important. The regions that make up much of China do not seek widespread political independence, as their own freedom will come with time. An enormous and progressively growing country China is built up of many smaller entities. Many of these states were at one time under their own rule and willing to fight to regain their freedom. China has moved forward as a wealthy country and world power putting many of her problems in the past. As China grows ever stronger and more stable the idea that any of her provinces may regain independence is becoming less and less likely, however if Chinas principal government weakens as it transforms into a democratic country, this may provide the opportunity needed for these provinces to test independence. Tibetan Buddhists feel they have much in common with India, and their spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama. In the early 7th century Tibet was an independent country. As the Tibetan empire fell into decline the Mongolians defeated it. After the fall of the Mongolians, China regained not only her independence but Tibet as well. Tibet had been under Chinese control for quite some time before trying to regain their independence. When Tibet actually sought regaining their independence, the Chinese government claimed it was too late. After Tibetan revolution, in which the Peoples Liberation Army prevailed, Tibet remained, and still does, under Chinese control. In 1995, Beijing officials decided not to accept the Tibetan Buddhists selection for a new Panchen Lama, the second most important spiritual leader in Tibet. Beijing instead installed its own leader. As can be imagined this action produced much anger amongst Tibetan people toward Chinese government. Denying Tibet a new spirit ual leader that would most likely raise the idea of... The imminent question from the experiences then is reason behind abandoning own native culture and people and facing challenges in new environments. The realization of blood is thicker than water becomes evident from the experience of immigrants in new regions. According to Gary Shteyngartââ¬â¢s memoir; ââ¬Å"Little Failureâ⬠and a movie named ââ¬Å"Everything Is Illuminatedâ⬠, immigration is not only a population movement and change. On a more important note, there are implications based on the political, cultural and economical aspects of a population migration. An appreciative perspective is on the cultural angles where multicultural consequences results from migrations. From the Shteyngartââ¬â¢ memoir; ââ¬Å"Little Failureâ⬠, Shteyngart articulates his story and experiences through a sickly Soviet childhood, middle-school bullying, and own insecurities prior to his success. Shteynagartââ¬â¢s background was that of a typical Russian-Jewish immigrant based family. Shteyngart tried to join the American life but his parents were Russian traditionalists. This reciprocated to Shteyngart experiencing many problems while he lived in America as an immigrant. After he graduated from the university, he tried working as a paralegal for a civil rights law firm but was unsuccessful. However, it was his parentââ¬â¢s dream to achieve the American dream. His parents pushed him towards attaining the American Dream in multiple occasions. Shteyngart tried establishing himself within a new environment in order to get rid of the immigrant geared mentality (Shteyngart 4). Shteyngart embraced the an old proverb that postulates that ââ¬ËWhen in Rome do as the Romans doâ⬠. He recalls reminding himself and internalizing inwardly ââ¬Å"Where am I? Customers want better services at low costs, bundled up features in just one cell phone such as text messaging, camera, internet browsing etc. The cell phone industryââ¬â¢s growth and profitability entirely depends upon innovative technology, providing improved and better services to customers. Many companies claim that their customers are completely satisfied with the services being offered, whereas the reality is much different. Consumers frequently complain about network error, irresponsive customer services or ridiculous penalties from exiting a contract. Like any other industry, cell phone industry was also hit by the recent recession but the good news is that it is finally reviving now. According to Tina Teng (2010), senior analyst for iSuppli Corp cell phones ended 2009 with shipments of 1.15 billion units. While this number is lower than what it was in 2008 but it has been noted that sales picked up mainly in the fourth quarter of 2009. The Top 5 players accounted for 77% share of the total handset market. The global market continues to thrive on consumers replacing old sets with new ones. Nokia Corp. undoubtedly remained the market leader, shipping 126.9 M handsets, capturing a 37.9% market share. Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd was a runner-up, which introduced its own smart phone operating system and captured 20.6% market share. The remainder of the Top 5 is rounded out by LG Electronics, in third place with 10.1 percent share; Sony Ericsson in fourth, with 4.4 percent share; and Chinese giant ZTE, whose impressive 77 percent growth from the earlier quarter vaulted it into fifth place, with a 4.0 percent share. 1. Now they have major retail branch over 40 countries around the world. The founder of IKEA is Ingvar Kamprad is born in Smà ¥land in southern Sweden. Within their long history, they have must a principle of changes to gowning their successful history. First need to understand what means about changes that means organizational changes. Changes take many forms: one is extreme that are modify the cause of exist of a company and other is sometime any small portion need to review. Changes can be influence the whole company or small portion of the company such as a single team. In a company occur many changes parallel at a time. Newton (2007) In the IKEA group of company, if there are occur any changes then they achieve the following thing: The achieve the boost in processes and procedure; develop their information technology system, improved their customer services, develop the skill and ability of their teams stuff, including outsourcing company structure will be change, an innovation and broader range of product or services, review the culture of the company and merge and de merge between the company. Any changes occur is a reaction for any stimuli that means every change having some key factor and principle. Some change occurs for internal reason for company and some reason for external reason for the company. The internal changes are comes about trough the creativity of stuff in this company to produce a method that are benefit for the company. This change are recognize by the senior manager in this company that means top down change, but sometimes many changes are identify from bottom up changes. In external changes of this company include: taking step to develop the technology side of the company, taking action of the various demand and needs of the customer, organize the company for changing new legislation and regulations, and try to always react with various competition that are new market policy and new company arise with new technology, etc. Change Management and innovation To achieve a desired final state through changes by set of processes, tools, methods, approaches and techniques is called change management. Change management is means leading transition from one state to another. Change manage is approaches have many innovation in IKEA group company. It helps this organization to gain its aim and objectives that are cannot possible to gain by the present method and successfully operate with customer. This manage also try to minimize the negative of any change occur in this company. Well designed and implementation change can be give massive improvement in this organizational performance, but sometimes it brings negative impact if this changes need again. Change management tries to minimize the time and length of this performance by dropping following changes. CameronGreen (2009) This change management are innovating the different areas of the company that are: project manager use this innovation of the change manager to refer that need any manager c hange need to the scope or requirements of a project. This change management is impact on the cost of this project, time of a project. Operational manager use this term for to an operational process or system is controlled to ensure that the change does not adversely affect operations. For example a new machine is coming on a production line factory, then production manger that is act in change manger ensure that this machine are operate after successfully testing and no disturbing or interrupt to another production that are running in this factory. Change theories and tools within the organization or in IKEA Every organization tries to react with new market policy, new technology, and customer demand. To keep pace with this market change, every organization always takes many sides of change management. There are include process change, structural change, cultural change and cost change in such type organization is called IKEA. Beer (2003) In structural change consider the all functional part of the company that are need to be change for better performance. During structural change, top management, aided by consultant, attempts to reconstruct these sectors to achieve better performance. In process change describe the how product will be done. Process change focus to make processes quicker, more effective, more reliable and less price. Cost change management always considers the price cost according to the customer or market demand. And in cultural change management means the stuff co operation with other and work flow in group member. According to the Harvard Business School Professors Michel Beer and Nitin Nohria described two forms of change theory that are called E theory and O theory. E theory means change from the economical approach and O theory means changes from the organizational capabilities approach. In goals of any company, E theory describe the maximize shareholder value and O theory describe the developing capabilities of this company. In E theory also changes the leadership manages from the top and O theory tries to participate the leadership from bottom up. E theory focuses the structure and system of the company and O theory develop the corporate culture and stuff relation and behavior. E theory conduct the process in plain and established way, but in O theory conducts the process in experimental way. McCalmanPaton (1992) In IKEA group of organization, consider the major change of program according to the market demand and customer choice. So what theory is appropriate for this company is difficult to do say. Because from the previous experiment it is shows that neither theory is guarantee of success. In E theory is develop the rapid changes that are sometimes beneficial. But not either E theory or O theory is beneficial for this company. For successfully change tools in a company. It needs to apply the both theory. Effect of globalization on change management using Risk Management Technique Risk is unavoidable in every project in organization. Risk may be come in any side of the organization that means operational, process and cultural risk, etc. For example, in a team group any member is sick then there will be occur a risk. A good manager always takes action to reduce the risk and make contingency plan to mitigate risk. Wallace (1999) Figure1 : Risk Management .There are many risk management technique are available for reduce risk. Risk also effects the globalization on change management. There are many factor are include to effect the globalization. Deaconu Capital repositioning is one of the common globalization effects that are identify. For the reason of economic growth of the developed countries that are seeking the market in the developing countries also coming risk in the economic field. Increasing trade exchange is also another risk that are sometime arrange without any regulations. The Barriers of change process There are many change management processes available that are structural process, cultural process, behavior change process, etc. To achieve this process, there are also coming many barriers. The behaviorist approach is about changing the behaviors of others through reward and punishment. This leads to behavioral analysis and use of reward strategies. Personality type has a significant effect on an individuals ability to initiate or adapt to change. To overcoming this behavioral change barriers, manager can take step. For behavioral barriers, get his reward strategies right and link goals to motivation for cognitive. To overcoming these change problems make sure that the organization continues to do all the normal work that needs to be done in priority to the change itself. Any product need not be delivered when change are in risk. Kotter (1996) There are need to continuous monitoring progress in terms of both completion task and the delivery of benefits. Resolve this problem quickly and effectively. The decision to go live requires an understanding of the risk being taken. Risk can be minimized by activities like testing and contingency plans, but there is never zero risk. Celebrate success proportionately and at the right time. Source of conflict within the change management Conflict takes place in organization because organizations function by means of adjustment and compromises among competitive elements in their structure and membership. Peoples views often conflict. If they hold them strongly, the result can be two kinds of conflict, horizontal between functions, departments, groups and individuals, and vertical between different levels in the hierarchy. A conflict between individuals raises fewer problems than conflict between groups. Individuals can act independently and resolve their differences. Members of groups may have to accept the norms, goals, and values of their group. An individuals loyalty will usually be to his or her own group if it is in conflict with others. Every change provides an opportunity to learn. True learning is not just about discussing what went well and badly, but about taking real action to ensure the lesions are drilled into the organization. Change is continuous in an environment of finite resource. To perform the best changes requires tough decision making and prioritization of change option. To thrive in a world of change the organization should deliberately develop change management skills as a core skill for everyone in the organization. When developing or changing anything for organization consider how they can design in flexibility so the next time it comes to making a modification it is easier, quicker, and cheaper. The best method of handling conflict is to adopt a problem solving approach by: getting arrangement on what problem is, jointly analysis the causes of the conflict, identifying alternative mean of dealing with the issue, jointly evaluating the metrics of each alternative from the perspectives of both parties. Working through the alternatives to find the one closest to meeting the needs of everyone connected and agreeing on how the preferred solution can be implemented to the satisfaction of both parties. Conclusion of all the outcomes for the given organization IKEA The most important task is to gain the commitment of all concerned to the proposed change. This can be achieved by preparing for change thoroughly, gaining understanding and acceptance of the reasons for change, managing the transition carefully, and implementing the change in a way which ensures, as far as possible, that it is accepted so that, in use, its worth becomes evident. The main business theam of IKEA group is delivered the well designed product in minimam prize that are able to all people. The IKEA organazations develop their more store moer than 4.5% to 660 miliion. This is increase the tortal EUR 22,713. These colors were white, brown, and turquoise. These colors were added in such a way that the painting depicted contrary visual characteristics, such as vertical and horizontal lines and also straight and circular patterns. Rough surfaces in the canvas contribute to the complexity of the painting, such as pooled paint swirls where colors meet and barely visible wrinkles formed by paint build up. ââ¬Å"Autumn Rhythmâ⬠does not depict any recognizable object; however, it does give the illusion of nature.Metropolitan, 2000-2013). During the years following World War II, much of the artwork focused on issues and keeping with social commitment; however, when artists began using more personal styles for their paintings, this resulted in the artists moving away from art depicting the happenings of the time. (Frank, 2011). It was during this time that Jackson Pollo ck had the greatest influence on the art world. Jackson Pollock (1912-1956), studied under Thomas Hart Benton before beginning his action paintings, which involved the spilling and pouring of paints onto a canvas. (Biography, 2013). Jackson Pollock (1912-1956), was considered to be the major trendsetter of Abstract Expressionism. When Helen Fraternally began creating Abstract Expressionism pieces, she incorporated aspects of Pollock's action painting with her own style. Fraternally used the same technique of covering the canvas with an initial diluted color and allowing it to seep into the canvas as a beginning of the piece. As with Pollock's works, Fraternally added several colors to create her works; however, she opted to use softer colors and the results were not as random. When Fraternally created ââ¬Å"Edenâ⬠(1956), she added numerous shapes that gave he painting the illusion of trees and plants which gave the piece an appearance of a mystical garden. Baker (2010-2013) qu otes Hallway's description of ââ¬Å"Edenâ⬠, ââ¬Å"In addition to its dulcet clarity and commandâ⬠¦ A very funny pictureâ⬠¦ Centeringâ⬠¦ Upon two blue, slightly wiggly sets of numerals, two ââ¬Å"sass'sâ⬠on either side of the top center of the canvas. â⬠The piece was created with created with peach, olive, medium blue and pale olive colors. The focal point of this piece is the olive green and peach colored tear drops with the blue sass's on the either side. The symbolism of the tear drops ND numbers is not clearly defined, as is the case in the Abstract Expressionism pieces. Helen Fraternally (1928-2011), studied at the Dalton School with Ruffian Tomato. (American Art, n. D). Her first solo exhibition was in 1951 and consisted of paintings created with textured canvases, calligraphic drawings and the use of pale colors. These pieces represented the aspect of Abstract Expressionism that used recognizable figures and possessed some form of symbolism. This led to Fraternally changing her expressions of art. It was during the sass's that Fraternally moved away from Abstract Expressionism to define her own style which became known as color field painting. (American Art, n. D. ). Willie De Cooking (1904-1997), was also one of the well known abstract expressionists. His style of abstract painting differed from that of Pollock and Fraternally in that his pieces have a more symbolist quality. Even though the abstract quality is shown, the figures of women in his paintings are easily recognizable. In ââ¬Å"Woman and Bicycleâ⬠(1952-1953), the woman is visible through the smears of paint and the brush strokes. She is wearing an outfit that was not designed for riding a bicycle. Her high-heals and tight outfit was indicative of the popular looting style of the time. (Whitney, 2009). Willie De Zonings paintings, such as, ââ¬Å"Woman and Bicycleâ⬠(1952-1953), are representative of how he viewed women, some of which were recreations o f pictures of real women in magazines and billboards during the sass's. (Whitney, 2009). William De Cooking (1904-1997), attended the Rotterdam Academy of Fine Arts and Techniques. In the year 1945, De Zonings style was clearly defined; he used a combination of abstractions and figures. In 1955, the symbolism of his art work gave the illusion of women being absorbed into the background while also being the focal point of the painting. Biography, 2013). Aesthetic Qualities, Symbolic Significance ââ¬Å"Autumn Rhythmâ⬠(1950), ââ¬Å"Edenâ⬠(1956), and ââ¬Å"Woman and Bicycleâ⬠(1952-1953), exhibit the qualities found in Abstract Expressionism; although ââ¬Å"Autumn Rhythmâ⬠(1950) may exhibit more of the abstract style with contrasting lines and randomness. Edenâ⬠(1956) and ââ¬Å"Woman and Bicycleâ⬠(1952-1953) exhibit the abstract style; however, both of these paintings also depict recognizable figures. Even though ââ¬Å"Autumn Rhythmâ⬠(1950), does not exhibit recognizable figures, viewers may be able to imagine a sort of symbolism in that the painting represents fall. If the painting is viewed for a period of time, one can imagine the colors depicting the season of fall. ââ¬Å"Edenâ⬠(1956) symbolizes a garden or part filled with trees and plants, and ââ¬Å"Woman and Bicycleâ⬠(1952-1953), symbolizes the artist's vision of women. Nothing comes without a price, although whether the price involves money or not, is still there. Corepower Yoga, off Kipling and C-470, offers one free week of yoga to new time customers. The yoga is unlimited for the week and has no strings attached such as continued membership. Although the ad is labeled as free, and monetary it really is, due to trade-offs, benefit/cost analysis, and comparative benefit/cost analysis the free week of yoga comes with a price. The definition of trade-offs is giving up something to get something. Getting a free week of yoga at Corepower Yoga is great, but what if a different yoga center is better? Corepower Yoga does many hot yoga classes. This means that the room will be heated up to one hundred and five degrees and the humidity turned up to fifty percent. This could create a lot of discomfort and strain to new yoga users that they are not ready for. In addition, there are only about six classes a day, so the timing could not be right, considering there is a gap of classes between the times of twelve and four. These things could be wrong for a customer making the trade-off a costly thing. Another cost would be whether yoga is worthwhile or not. This is called benefit/cost analysis. Going to yoga involves working out and time and these are costs. Yoga creates a healthier body, more flexibility, more balance, and increased stamina. These are all positives, but take hard work to reach and maintain, which just one free week will not get you. To reach the full potential, a membership will be required, which is a monetary cost. If the addition of a membership is not taken at the end of the week, the yoga that has been done would not be very effective. A continuous membership costs about a hundred dollars a week for unlimited yoga. Not all people can afford this. One week of free yoga, although technically free, has the potential to cost more later on. This brings up the thought of if this week is a good deal, is it the best deal? This is called comparative benefit/cost analysis. Working out has benefits, but is yoga the best method? A gym also offers good workout potential. There are many different machines, work out classes, possibly tanning, and a very upbeat environment. Yoga is just one class and a very relaxed environment. Yoga created relaxation about life, and helps to distress the body, whereas working out just focuses on toning the body. The membership costs are about the same, but Corepower Yoga offers a free week to test out all of the things it has to offer. Nothing comes freely. Corepower Yoga's advertisement offers one free week of yoga to all new users. This is false advertisement, because it is not free. It must be taken into consideration the time, location, hard work, and the schedule of Corepower Yoga. All of these things cost something, although it may not deal with money are very important to the decision of taking up the offer or not. Phillips Conception of Immortality Essay Discussion of D.Z. Phillips Conception of Immortality In his book Death and Immortality, D Z Phillips starts by asking the question: does belief in immortality rest on a mistake? The first two chapters are negative in the sense that they examine traditional philosophical, as well as common sense, conceptions of what immortality means. Phillips argues that philosophical analyses centred on the notion of immortality have generally been constructed around certain essential presuppositions: presuppositions that assume some form of continuation of personal identity after death. One cannot logically deny that, by definition, death entails the end of bodily existence, so one, it seems, is logicallyâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦I e, I can continue to exist without my body if I am not the same thing as my body. Following on from Wittgensteins attack on the notion of logical privacy, Phillips thinks that this idea of the soul is fundamentally confused. Phillips argues that it is impossible to divorce private experience from public life and as such any conception of the soul as a separate substance is entirely fallacious. Taken that any continuation of personal identity after death seems to be dependent on some form body/soul dualism, and given the logical objections to such notions, one may be drawn into thinking that immortality is always going to be seen as rationally implausible. However, Phillips argues that a rejection of dualism does not necessitate a rejection of immortality. Phillips draws attention of to the fact that a perfectly meaningful conception of the soul can, and does, exist in the absence of any reference to some mysterious incorporeal substance. In everyday language we use expressions such as he was a good soul or he would sell his soul for money, Phillips uses these examples to demonstrate that, in this context, what we are referring to is not some philosophical dualistic account of a person, rather it is an assessment of what we believe to be that persons moral state of being - his Tom Barnetthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07848618706739844063noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6556672769014707337.post-6959108087211476432019-12-25T14:49:00.001-08:002019-12-25T14:49:03.257-08:00The Hidden Facts About Free Extended Essay Samples Revealed by an Expert The Hidden Facts About Free Extended Essay Samples Revealed by an Expert Possessing good essay examples provides the reader an in-depth and on-the-court idea about what a well structured and coherent essay appears like. There are the heroes you read about in books and watch in movies such as The Avengers and X-Men, and there are the everyday heroes such as doctors, police, and soldiers. There are also tragic heroes. Shakespeare is famous for his tragedies and tragic heroes in them. The traits that make a character a hero in todayââ¬â¢s society is, someone who is brave and courageous, strong and fearless selfless, and always wanting to help someone else in need. Today in modern society, heroes are shaped out to be a strong, huge, and attractive person. Most people think of heroes as the people with supernatural powers who wear the tight costumes with a cape or mask. In the movies with superheroes, the small, weak, and scrawny guy is not what one would expect as as the hero in the movie. In fact the small guy is the one who is normally saved by the hero. In the movies, society has shaped the heroes to be the big and strong person who comes and saves everyone in need. For example, in the movie X-Men, the heroes are the big, strong, and fearless people. Each one of the X-Men have a supernatural power that they use for good against evil to save the world. Some problem for one age may differ from the problem of another age, or they may be just the same. High school students especially are facing so many problems. The five biggest problems that high school students facing these days are, illegal racing, using drugs and alcohol abuse, having free sex, abortion and dumping baby. The problems usually follow the flow, first is illegal racing, commonly it being held at night, and of course it gives troubles to other road users. Apart from that, it also can be deadly for that person. After having a race, usually they will headed to the night club. This is the place where they start to take drugs and become addicted to alcohol. When they are under the influence of drugs and alcohol, it will lead them to have an unprotected sex, which means having sex without taking any prevention for pregnancy. High school students are too immature to fully understand the effects of free sex could have on their lives. So there is no doubt that another problem will be created because of that. For sure the problem is abortion and baby dumping. Panic of being pregnant unexpectedly, they take a risk to abort the baby before their family aware of the physical changes later on. Abortion is a risky action which can be fatal to the mother. But being in desperate situation like this, they cannot think rationally anymore. But not all of them are having enough gut to take the risk for abortion. Some of them decided to give birth to the baby, but then at the end of it, because of some reasons, they dump the baby without hesitate. Dump the baby means that they throw away the babies at any places without taking care of it later. Usually the babies were dump just after they were born. In most of the cases, the babies were already dead when they were found by someone else. The trend of dumping a baby is quite the same for most of the cases. Usually for most of the cases, the baby was covered with clothes and plastic bag and being left in the bushes, near the rubbish dump or in front of the mosque. The worst case is when the baby was throw in a river or being burn. This case does exist in our country, but only a few cases recorded until now. One of the common trend of baby dumping case this year can be read through The News Strait Times, April 11, The Malaysian National News Agency reported as follows, Kuala Lumpur, The body of a baby boy, with the umbilical cord still intact, was found at a garbage dump in Sungai Choh, Hulu Selangor. Hulu Selangor police chief Supt Norel Azmi Yahya Affandi, when contacted, said the body was found by Hulu Selangor District Council (MDHS) workers who were collecting garbage in the area about 8am. The district council workers were lifting the pile of rubbish into the garbage truck when a plastic bag with a newspaper package inside slipped and fell. One of the workers bent down to pick it up and was shocked to see a babys leg protruding from the newspaper package, he added. He said the worker lodged a police report and the body was sent to the Kuala Kubu Baru Hospital for a post-mortem. Police did not rule out th e possibility of the baby, which was believed to have died during delivery, was placed at the garbage dump site late last night. From this news, we must be aware that baby dumping is the most serious case nowadays. .u794d65f876c616bad5466644abfce483 , .u794d65f876c616bad5466644abfce483 .postImageUrl , .u794d65f876c616bad5466644abfce483 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u794d65f876c616bad5466644abfce483 , .u794d65f876c616bad5466644abfce483:hover , .u794d65f876c616bad5466644abfce483:visited , .u794d65f876c616bad5466644abfce483:active { border:0!important; } .u794d65f876c616bad5466644abfce483 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u794d65f876c616bad5466644abfce483 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u794d65f876c616bad5466644abfce483:active , .u794d65f876c616bad5466644abfce483:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u794d65f876c616bad5466644abfce483 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u794d65f876c616bad5466644abfce483 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u794d65f876c616bad5466644abfce483 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u794d65f876c616bad5466644abfce483 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u794d65f876c616bad5466644abfce483:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u794d65f876c616bad5466644abfce483 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u794d65f876c616bad5466644abfce483 .u794d65f876c616bad5466644abfce483-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u794d65f876c616bad5466644abfce483:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Footage of the University of Oklahomaââ¬â¢s SAE EssayThis case appears almost every day on news and in the newspapers. We can see that these cases are increasing from time to time. According to the statistics of baby dumping cases in Malaysia issued by the Headquarters of the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), Bukit Aman, in 2000, a total of 65 cases of baby dumping have been reported and the total number increase to 86 cases reported in 2006 throughout the country. This serious case becomes more popular among teenagers in Malaysia is probably because of these few factors, which are unwanted pregnancies, men irresponsibility, sickness, poverty, scolding by parents, and broke n marriages. Unwanted pregnancies have been one of the major causes of baby dumping, as most of these young ladies are not prepared to take care of the baby plus the changes that take place with the body and lack of life skills. In the eight studies reported by Gerald R. Adams and Thomas Gullota: Most of the time a teenage pregnancy is an accident. Many teenagers are simply ignorant about sexual matters and believe such myths as ââ¬Å"you canââ¬â¢t get pregnant the first timeâ⬠or ââ¬Å"you wonââ¬â¢t get pregnant if you only have sex in a whileâ⬠. Teenagers are also influenced by parents and religious leaders who tell them to abstain not only from having sex but from using birth control as well. While birth control requires planning and forethought, it is easy to be swept into an unplanned sexual encounter in the heat of passion. Moreover, some teenage girls feel that planning a sexual encounter is immoral, finally teenagers often do not know how to get birth control devices or are afraid that their parents will get angry if they do. Men irresponsibility also contributes to the womenââ¬â¢s decision to dump the baby. Men often refuse to take the responsibility when they were claimed to be the father of the baby. There are cases where the man himself had asked for the baby to be aborted or dumped. Apart from that, some women dumped their baby out of sickness, such as mental problems, confusion, and epilepsy acquired during pregnancy. Psychologists tend to picture baby dumper as people who are mentally ill or at least have severe emotional problems. The typical baby dumper is described as impulsive, immature and depressed, with little control over his or her emotions. Having economic hardship also leading to baby dumping. Teenagers who are still studying for instance cannot afford to raise a baby on their own and for those who comes from a poor family, even their parents cannot help the situation. Afraid of being scolded by their parents because of pregnant before married is also the reason why they dumped the baby. David G. Gilââ¬â¢s found that: The usual indicator of social class-income, occupation prestige and education are all negatively related to baby dumping. In other words, the lower the parentsââ¬â¢s social and economic status, the more they tended to dump their baby. Last but not least is because of broken marriages. Believe it or not, even the one who had married also dumped their baby. This is happen especially when the couple had a problem to get along well with each other. Always argue and hard to tolerate to each other finally resulted in baby dumping. In one of the most comprehensive studies of family violence to date, Murray A. Straus, Richard J. Gelles and Suzanne K. Steinmets found that: About a quarter of the husband and wives they interviewed admitted that there had been violence between them at some time in their marriage. Furthermore many saloons or bars were selling German products. On January 16, 1919 the lobbyist won and under the Eighteenth Amendment prohibition was created and made legal. Unfortunately it didnââ¬â¢t last long since bootleggers were now creating their own spirits. The bootleggers were becoming wealthy by selling illegal spirits and the States were becoming more, and more unable to police them. Crime rates were rising to new heights as the bootleggers formed mobs and syndicates gaining control of the streets. In the year 1933 prohibition was repealed, congress felt that it would weaken organized crime as well as be used to generate moneys through taxation. Just like marijuana, coke, and heroin: the government made a drug illegal and people found a way to obtain it. In my opinion our society feels that there is a need for it and they are right. Alcohol is a drug that stimulates economic growth and development, but not with out consequences. People have different reasons for abusing alcohol. Drinking Alcohol has many consequences. I have personally seen the effects of alcohol abuse. Alcohol should be illegal, because it is a drug that can ruin many lives, can cause mental illness, and causes crime rates to increase like other drugs. People have different reasons for abusing alcohol. Many people drink socially, while others binge drink. A person might want to take the edge off by drinking a few beers. Alcohol has become a household drug. It is served at parties and at dinners. The majority of people drink in order to enjoy themselves, however many people drink for the wrong reasons, such as drinking to forget your problems which results in abuse. Drinking alcohol has many consequences. Alcohol also leads to physical ailments such as hypertension. If a drinker continues a pattern of binge drinking he/she might become a victim of heart disease. Alcohol also causes jaundice, which is caused by cirrhosis of the liver, as well as cause kidney damage. It can cause families to break apart. It can cause people to lose their jobs and homes. Alcohol increases chances for communicable disease. There are many people in prison, because of choices made while drinking. According to Crime in Americaââ¬â¢s statistics ââ¬Å"drugs and alcohol implicated in 78 percent of violent crimesâ⬠(Crime in America, 2010 ). Alcohol should be illegal, because it is a drug that can ruin many lives. Thousands of people have lost love ones due hospitalization and car wrecks. According to NHTSA, 35 percent of all traffic deaths occurred in crashes in which at least one driver or non occupant had a BAC of 0. 08 percent or more and that any alcohol was present in 41 percent of all fatal crashes in 2002. â⬠(Hingson Micheal, 2003; Hanson) Sadly itââ¬â¢s not always the user that is harmed; many accidents involve pedestrians, or passengers. Furt hermore drinking has long term effects, it can kill someone quickly, or slowly. In 2006 a total of 22,073 persons died of alcohol-induced causes in the United Statesâ⬠(Annual causes of death in the United States, 2011 para 6) Alcohol can increase the chances of mental illness. People who suffer from anxiety or depression tend to self medicate. The user only feels a deeper feeling ofanxiety or depression, so they drink more only building a tolerance. This is known as the Vicious Circle. ââ¬Å"Moderate doses of alcohol, nicotine, or caffeine can induce psychotic symptoms in a person with schizophrenia, and small amounts of marijuana, cocaine, or other drugs can precipitate prolonged psychotic relapses. â⬠(Drake, 1994 para 2) People with mental illness are more vulnerable to the affects of alcohol. This is the concept behind the idea of Dual Disorder: a patient has two defined diseases. Normal people have been noted to gain mental issues from drug abuse, while people with mental problems gain drugs abuse. Many people that abuse alcohol are prone to have relationship issues. Problems controlling finances, and working their job. These contribute to an individuals need to medicate. Considering that alcohol is a depressant, in individuals that suffer from depression spirits can lead to suicide. An estimated five million of the 32 million people 65 and older suffer from depression. Russel, 2007 para 2) The chances of suicide due to drinking increases with age, because of the responsibilities that come with age. Alcohol seems to be a tool for people to evacuate the everyday life. Alcohol increases crime rates just like other drugs. There are however casual drinkers that just have a drink on occasion. The regular social drinkers that donââ¬â¢t abuse alcohol and treat it as a privil ege, should they be punished for what others have, and are doing? Honestly I donââ¬â¢t feel as though they should. Alcohol generates money for our Government by State Tax. So why not make other drugs legal? Our Government will then be able to generate money by taxing Marijuana. Itââ¬â¢s the same as what was happening during the prohibition: prohibited drugs are still being used without regulation and criminals are making money from it. Drug related crime on our streets can possibly be slowed by making certain drugs legal: certain dealers would no longer be able to supply if people got those drugs from a local store or pharmacy. That is why crime is lower in places like Northern California, were marijuana has been made legal in some parts. As I stated prior it seems that people are going out of their way to obtain the drug that suits them and thatââ¬â¢s why alcohol is a drug like the rest. I have personally seen the effects of alcohol abuse. While being a member of the Armed Forces, my associates, and I would often go to bars. While there we would go on all night binges and drink until the bar closed. One particular night we were out drinking and having a good time. One of my friends got completely intoxicated, although he was able to handle is liquor, so we didnââ¬â¢t see how bad off he was. We drove home and left him the car to take with him. He made it four blocks before he called us. We found him hanging on the side of a fence and the car had crashed into the side of a facility. He needed medical attention, but he didnââ¬â¢t want to go, because that meant discharge from the Service. So the guys and I called the local authorities and they picked him up. I wonder if he realizes that he couldââ¬â¢ve died that night. Why alcohol should not be legal 3 References Annual causes of death in the United States. (2011). On the one hand, there is a clear indication that blackberries as a symbol are used in the same way in both texts; in fact, the same words are used to describe the process of tasting the berries: ââ¬Å"She mashed it with her tongue, che wed and swallowedâ⬠(Hunnicut 72) and ââ¬Å"The boy put the blackberry in his mouth. He rolled it with his tongue, feeling its irregularity, and crushed it against the roof of his mouthâ⬠(Norris 74). However, despite the similarities, the aftertaste left by the blackberries is different in each novel. While in the first piece, the berries are used as a symbol of the relationships of the couple that have probably themselves in a dead end, in the second story, blackberries symbolize youth and hope. Moreover, in the story of a boy and his father taking a walk across the forest, blackberries appear to cement the friendship between them, therefore, allowing the readers to see the process of bonding between the father and his son in a very innocent and at the same time touching way: ââ¬Å"When he laughed his father saw that his mouth was deeply stained. Together they picked and ate the dark berries, until their lips were purple and their hands marked and scratchedâ⬠(Nor ris 73); in the first novel, the berries, on the contrary, are supposed to embody the feeling of hopelessness that both the husband and the wife found themselves in, as well as the lack of connection between the two. When it comes to the themes and issues raised in both novels, the similarities between the stories, however, come out in full blue. Even though Norrisââ¬â¢s story seems to have a much more upbeat tempo as the process of bonding between the father and the son is described, as soon as the two return from their forest walk, a conflict unwraps at the end of the novel: ââ¬Å"His motherââ¬â¢s face was red and distorted, her voice shrillâ⬠(Norris 73).Advertising Looking for essay on comparative literature? To start with, none of the stories has a protagonist ââ¬â there is no good or bad character, but simply people with their complex personalities, and who happen to be in complicated situations. In Hunnicutââ¬â¢s story, neither the husband or the wife are to blame for the wall of alienation between them; or, to be more exact, each of them is to blame to the same extent. Likewise, in Norrisââ¬â¢ short novel, the mother and the father start a conflict out of nothing simply because they have stuck in their daily routine Speaking of the settings in both stories, one must mention that, despite the seeming dissimilation between them, these settings, in fact, have more in common than meets the eye. For example, though Hunnicutââ¬â¢s story takes place somewhere in the suburbia, while Norris clearly places her characters in the realm of countryside. However, both places are quiet and inviting, which emphasizes the conflicts between the characters to an even greater degree. Two separate worlds created by two different authors, the two stories share certain features. Even though set in different universes, they have a lot in common; and, weirdly enough, major differences in them often contribute to the creation of even stronger links between the stories. It was decided that all films released from August 1, 1927 through July 31, 1928 would be eligible for the first Academy Awards. The Winners Were Not a Surprise The first Academy Awards ceremony was held on May 16, 1929. It was a quiet affair compared to the glamor and glitz that accompany the ceremonies of today. Since the winners were announced to the press on Monday, February 18, 1929 - three months early - the 250 people who attended the black-tie banquet in the Blossom Room of the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel werent anxious for the results to be announced. After a dinner of Filet of Sole Saute au Buerre and Half Broiled Chicken on Toast, Douglas Fairbanks, the president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, stood up and gave a speech. Then, with the help of William C. deMille, he called the winners up to the head table and handed them their awards. The First Statuettes The statuettes that were presented to the first Academy Awards winners were nearly identical to those handed out today. Sculpted by George Stanley, The Academy Award of Merit (an Oscars official name) was a knight, made of solid bronze, holding a sword and standing upon a reel of film. The First Academy Award Winner Wasnt There! The very first person to receive an Academy Award didnt attend the first Academy Awards ceremony. Emil Jannings, the winner for best actor, had decided to go back to his home in Germany before the ceremony. Before he left for his trip, Jannings was handed the very first Academy Award. The last known strain Ebola virus strain is the Ebola Cote dââ¬â¢Ivoire that was discovered in the year 1994 (Li and Chen, pg 8) . It occurred when an ethnologist was performing a necropsy in Tai forest on a dead chimpanzee infected herself in the process. Ebola outbreak in 2014 is the largest ever in the history of Ebola. It became the first ever Ebola outbreak in West Africa countries and recorded as the worldââ¬â¢s first epidemic ever. There are few cases reported in Nigerians Port Harcourt and Lagos. The cases in Nigeria have been associated with a man who had visited Liberia and died of Ebola days later in Lagos. However, the virus has not spread widely in Nigeria. In Senegal, one case of Ebola was reported from a man who had traveled from guinea (Center for Disease control and Prevention factsheets). As per September 18th, 2014, the number of cases counted had risen to 5347 with total deaths of 2630. Among the counted people, 3095 have been confirmed in the laboratory to have been infected by the Ebola virus. The deaths have been experienced across five countries in West Africa among the affect countries are Nigeria, Liberia, Senegal, Sierra Leone and Guinea (Gatherer, pg 5) . So far the food and drugs association has not approved a safe vaccine for Ebola virus. Therefore, the prevention modalities are guided by the behavior of individuals when in the Ebola outbreak affected areas. To prevent spreading of the virus, a number of behavioral practices have to be integrated to the people visiting the outbreak areas. According to Centre for Disease Control and Prevention reports, preventive measures involves careful hygiene without any contact with body fluids of infected people, avoid handling items used on the affected peopleââ¬â¢s body fluids, Tom Barnetthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07848618706739844063noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6556672769014707337.post-36424790034303106362019-11-19T17:03:00.001-08:002019-11-19T17:03:05.005-08:00Case Study on Toys R US Japan Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1500 wordsCase Study on Toys R US Japan - Essay Example The fate of Toys ââ¬Å"Râ⬠US Japan is encompassed by issues such as leadership, understanding cultural diversity and implementing effective communication across varying cultures. Toys ââ¬Å"Râ⬠US is a market leader in its industry particularly in the United States. Due to this advantage, its potential to expand can be possible across other economies with varying cultural backgrounds. Toys ââ¬Å"Râ⬠US eventually made its way in Europe. Amidst contradiction from the start among local counterparts, Toys ââ¬Å"Râ⬠US was able to grow and continue to exist in the marketplace in Europe. Its expansion was not achieved overnight. It was able to experience challenges in times that it attempted to carry its strategic formula that it was able to successfully apply in the US retailing industry. In the US, its understanding about the market with customers who are after of the value they can get was able to inspire its discount formula. This made its fortune in the US retailing industry that it also envisioned to be achievable in other foreign markets. Toys ââ¬Å"Râ⬠US evaluated the toy market in Japan and the result was promising. In 1991, Japan had higher spending for toys. In fact, it was the worldââ¬â¢s second largest market for toys for that year. The case is pointing it out that the good opportunity for toy market in Japan may be due to small number of children within a family and a higher demand for excellence in the academe. Children in Japan are encouraged to be excellent in the academe and a way to motivate them would be to reward them with toys. Furthermore, parents can afford to provide more toys for their children. A less number of children in a family in Japan proved to be an important factor why parents can eventually provide for their childrenââ¬â¢s needs for almost everything. ... The company was willing to expand and go global. It started in Europe but eventually moved its way to Asia. If finally tried its chances in Japan and created a market evaluation in there at first. One important assessment it made was the interrelation between Japanese culture and its market. According to Hofstede the American culture emphasizes competition while Japanese culture emphasizes cooperation and harmony (Rainey, 1999). In reality Toys ââ¬Å"Râ⬠US having the foundation of an American culture is always aiming to reach its competitive advantage. This is the very reason why it was able to evaluate the Japanese market in great detail. Along the way, it finally saw the importance of understanding precisely the prevailing Japanese retailing industry. Japan culture is known for collectivism while the United States is recognized for its individualism (Rainey, 1999). Toys ââ¬Å"Râ⬠US finally was able to understand how the traditional retailing in Japan worked compared w ith the modern retailing strategies in the United States. Marked with certain level of competition and individualism, the Toys ââ¬Å"Râ⬠US could hardly enter the Japanese retailing industry which was highly fragmented and ran by long-standing relationships among manufacturers, wholesalers and retailers (Spar, 1999). As stated in the case, Toys ââ¬Å"Râ⬠US never took instantly its plunge into Japanââ¬â¢s retailing industry. It was able to familiarize the ongoing market trend in the retailing industry within the Japanese market. Toys ââ¬Å"Râ⬠US was able to emphasize the value of understanding how it would market its product offerings and make it fit in the Japanese marketplace. Even though it was marked with full enthusiasm to enter into Japanââ¬â¢s market, Toys ââ¬Å"Râ⬠US in the Tom Barnetthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07848618706739844063noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6556672769014707337.post-43793989956490504252019-11-17T05:35:00.001-08:002019-11-17T05:35:06.946-08:00Problem of Our Community Essay Example for Free Problem of Our Community Essay Describe a problem in your community that affects you, how it affects you and what you believe should be done to solve the problem. As I was young child Ulaanbaatar city was beautiful small city. In winter there was enough dick snow to play on it. Just little number of cars had not made a big trouble. Ulaanbaatar city is located between 4 big mountains and initially build only for 400 thousand inhabitants. After several extreme cold and harsh winters, many farmers have lost their belongings such as livestock. Poor and unemployed people started to migrate to the city. Now the city has more than 1 million citizens. The ex-farmers were semi nomadic and they do not give up their living style even they migrated to the city. They live in yurts (ââ¬Å"Gerâ⬠, a tent covered with felt). Because of their missing documents and lack of working skills they can not find jobs in city. Of course most of them have not devices which connected to the central heating system and also waste water channels. Mongolians usually burn woods or coals in winter time to heat the gers. But because the new poor immigrants can not buy such things, they burn everything what they can found. For example wastes as old aged tires, chemicals and so on. Nowadays 60 percent of city inhabitants live in ger area using old traditional heating cabins (small box of iron, in which things burned). In winter time, the city is covered by smog. Nobody can breathe freely. Traffic is another issue. As I was a school pupil I had never seen traffic jam. But now I can see the spectacle everyday. Drivers are angry and cars are noisy. Some people sticks two hours just to drive 4-5 km. Most cars are older than 10 years or so called ââ¬Å"secondâ⬠¦Ã¢â¬ , ââ¬Å"third handâ⬠cars imported from Japan and Korea. Because of its old age and environmental aspects these cars would not allowed being used in developed countries. Now Ulaanbaatar city is one of ugliest city in Asia with its smog, traffic and old cars. I see the problem in regional politics. Herders and citizens in countryside have only livestock and their livings are extremely depends on climate change. Furthermore, in rural villages the local government has no power to pursue own tax policy. Mongolia has a centralized budget system. All taxes paid must be collected in the finance ministry. Then it can be allocated among the provinces. But this way is ineffective and corrupt. Many politicians use this money just for next election campaign. In my opinion people in countryside should have more power to boost their markets in local area. They should have own taxation and local budget expenditure policy. Then they would not escape from their homeland by every negative change. In other side if the Mayor of my city (governor of the capital city) is being assigned by the central government. The Mayor usually works only for the party but not for people who live in the city. I really wish that we have the right to vote our mayor directly from us. Then we can control him better and push to concentrate on daily problems among the city inhabitants. How would this program benefit you and factor into your future plans? (Please limit your answer to 250 words. ) I see this program as greatest opportunity to my life. I hope I can have many friends during this program and I will see a lot of things that I can not see without this chance. First of all I can know learn the American education system American lifestyle. By the way, I will improve my English, which will increase my chance to have a well paid job in Mongolia. Mongolia is one freest country in Asia with its open economy. Bigger companies and universities seek for new employee who can speak in English fluently. In another side, I am very interested in social issues in my country. I think these problems are overall in the world. But how to solve the problems can be done in different way. I can see the American solutions. In Mongolian language there is phrase: ââ¬Å"to see once is better than hearing about it 1000 timesâ⬠. That means you can hear about one thing many times and get some understanding. But if you see this you can feel it much better. After the program I will be able to share my experiences in USA by different way. I can lead studentsââ¬â¢ workshops and also write on the university journals. My diploma thesis will be more comparative and living. I can imagine that I join a political party to participate more actively in the society. So this program will give me a range of ideas and knowledge that I can implement in Mongolia. Mongolians say it is better to be rich on knowledge than on money. It is playing a more important role not only in our personal life but also in our professional life, because leadership has a great impact and influence on people. So, utilizing leadership adequately can bring us a piece of attractive picture. To use humanizing actions is a critical leadership skill, which will be discussed in the following paragraphs, to motivate and inspire energy of team members to achieve the set goal. I would like to use Contingency Theory and Integrative Theory and Path Goal Model and Follower-ship to demonstrate that this critical skill has an impact on leadership effectiveness. Body: Leadership is the ability to inspire confidence, support and trust among the people who need to achieve organizational goals. (Chan & Maubourgne 1992) It invariably requires using power to influence the thoughts and actions of other people in order to create new approaches and imagine new areas to explore. This definition has emphasized on influencing people to achieve set goals. In other words, we can say, the objective of leadership is achieving goals, meanwhile, the application is influencing other people to motivate the energy and stimulate the potential towards the goals. The contemporary era is the time with constant changes and new demands. In view of this point, we can't put unitary leadership into real work. Accordingly, the term of "contingency leadership theory" (also namely "situational leadership") is given rise to by those situational factors. This theory notes that managers can vary their styles to suit different circumstances. For instance, a sole proprietorship's leader leads self's business and t... ...g goal greatly.
